EarthLoc® Modular Underground Grid-Bridge™
EarthLoc® PFRP (Pultruded Fiber Reinforced Polymer) modules form a subterranean, bridge-like grid engineered to resist compression, overturning, uplift, and shear. Manufactured from 101,000 psi pultruded FRP that will never corrode or degrade, these modules are inter-connected and driven below grade to earth-lock massive tonnage of soil.
Each grid is reinforced with FRP stanchions, inserted into the module’s stanchion sleeves and driven deep until they reach stiff, firm clay—where they “plug” and achieve refusal by forming a compressed bell bottom, typically delivering 185,000 psf of compression resistance per stanchion. The result is an inextricably intertwined EarthLoc Modular Underground Grid-Bridge™.
This process requires no excavation, eliminating the risk of settlement during installation. Every module and stanchion placement is itself a load test, ensuring complete uniformity and making soil type irrelevant. Installation is clean, predictable, and rapid—accelerating schedules while maintaining unmatched precision.
[U.S. Patent US11053655B2 — Modular Grid Foundation; Inventor: Lawrence S. Maxwell]
Whether it’s a modular grid slab foundation supporting a 66-million-pound sand silo (EarthLoc’s first project), a 20-foot-high containment wall expanding dredge spoil storage capacity, an impenetrable, unclimbable Texas Border Barrier, or an EarthLoc Modular Grid “Sand Dune” (Ike Dike) engineered to withstand an 18-foot storm surge from a Category 5 hurricane—EARTHLOC is the answer.
Unmatched Strength & Durability
EarthLoc’s Modular Grid components are precision-crafted from fiber reinforced polymer (FRP), pultruded through high-tolerance dies for consistent quality. Lab testing confirms a 101,000 psi flexural yield strength with zero loss of performance in a 500-year accelerated weathering test. Nearly three times stronger than A36 steel—and completely immune to rust, corrosion, or degradation—EarthLoc FRP delivers strength that lasts for generations.
